Lagana – Greek Flatbread
Lagana is traditionally consumed throughout the Greek Lent. It’s also called Greek Clean Monday Bread or ‘Kathari Deutera. Clean Monday is the first day of Great Lent before Easter. As it is the first day of the Orthodox Lent, no meat, fish (only those with no blood, like octopus or calamari) or dairy products are consumed.
Laganes are often served alongside Lenten dishes such as bean soups, vegetable stews, and salads, providing sustenance and comfort during the fasting period.
